Dear Presbyterian Friends,

Sunday morning service on December 24, 2006 will be one I’ll remember for a long time.  Mark’s presentation at the end of the service was a total surprise.  You engraved the beautiful clock and engraved my mind with the standing tribute.  Thank you for that and for the opportunity to serve as your organist.  It has been my pleasure and joy.

With warm sincerity,

                                                                                              Carolyn Bogue

THANK YOU

I want to take this opportunity to thank Patti, Phyllis, Norma and The Presbyterian Women for their generous donations. The money will be used to publish a book that will be offered to people who are dealing with loss. I also want to say a big “thank you” to Beth Schulte for believing in me and being the backbone of this project.

Hugs from heaven,

Kim Mathis

I would like to thank you for the wonderful Bible you gave me. I know that it will be very helpful and will be used regularly through my college years. A special thanks to Patty and John Lansinger for having the breakfast for me.
                                                                                             Thank you all!

                                                                                              Heather Kidd

The Reunion Concert of the Espiritu’s and the Velasco’s

Our church was the beneficiary of a variety of musical performances recently when a reunion of the family of Pastor Rex’s father was held here. There were approximately 35 in all. Many of them had a unique musical talent which they shared with us during the morning worship service and during a concert in the afternoon. The range of musical composers was unusual, from Johann Sebastian Bach’s “Sheep May Safely Graze” sung by the Espiritu -Velasco Choir, to a jazz improvisation of “Who Can I Turn To” from ‘The Roar of the Greasepaint” played by Pastor Rex’s cousin, Vicente Espiritu Velasco, a Medical Internist. Included were a variety of selections performed by Christina, Hannah, Grace, and Tabitha Espiritu. The finale featured three selections by Gigi Mitchell-Velasco and Noel Espiritu Velasco who sang and accompanied each other and sang a duet, “Make Me an Instrument” by Aborn, “O Divine Redeemer” and “The Lord is My Light”.  It was a superb day of excellent music for our congregation, thanks to the outstanding talents and generosity of the Espiritu’s and Velasco’s.

Thank You

This is a warm thank you to the Espiritu-Velasco family for including us in their family reunion with a wonderful musical Sunday morning and afternoon. From the oldest family members to some of the very youngest, they shared their special gifts. From two former members of the Boston Opera Company, to first chair flute of the Delaware Youth Symphony, they gave their amazing best. From Bach to Broadway, including a jazz piano rendition of Anthony Newley’s Who Can I Turn To?,

the program was varied and excellent. Pianist, guitarist, violinist, flutist, vocalist, we enjoyed them all.  Our own Espiritu family was well represented with great piano and vocal numbers. At the program’s end Pastor Rex’s cousin, Noel Velasco, in his magnificent operatic tenor voice (that is bigger than our sanctuary), spiritually lifted us up with The Lord is My Light

. Again, thanks to Pastor Rex and his family for sharing this special time with us.

Giving Thanks Through The Generations

The Espiritu/Velasco Family expresses their gratitude to God in appreciation of the congregation’s hospitality at First Presbyterian Church. Thank you for joining with us in sharing our gifts of music in celebration, praise and thanksgiving to God for the Lord’s blessings and faithfulness through the generations.
